EMC Shielding Glass - Which is Best for You?

Electromagnetic shielding glass ,also called EMC glass,is a light-transmitting shielding glass that prevents electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic interference.Under the conditions of 50% visible light transmittance and 1GHz frequency, its shielding performance is 35~60 dB.

1. 3 Types of EMC Glass
There are 3 kinds of EMC Glass: coated shielding glass, wire mesh shielding glass, and film mesh shielding glass.

①Coated EMC shielding glass
Coated shielding glass is commonly known as ITO conductive glass. This product uses a special process to coat the ordinary glass surface with a conductive layer. Conventionally, it is single-sided coating. When the requirements are relatively high, double-sided coating can also be achieved; the light transmittance of coated shielding glass is high, which can reach more than 85%, but the shielding efficiency is only about 20dB, and double-sided coating can reach 30-40dB; this type of product has the characteristics of high fidelity and high clarity, and is mainly used in occasions where the shielding efficiency requirements are not high but the light transmittance requirements are high.

②Silk mesh EMC shielding glass
Wire mesh shielding glass is composed of two (or more) pieces of organic/inorganic glass and a specially treated alloy shielding mesh under high temperature and high pressure, and has the characteristics of high shielding efficiency. The peripheral structure of wire mesh shielding glass includes U-shaped copper foil, wire mesh edge, wire mesh edge copper foil and peripheral brushing conductive silver paste. Among them, wire mesh edge copper foil is a patented technology of our company. The specific structure to be used depends on the customer's usage requirements. Alloy shielding mesh is usually selected in 100 mesh, 130 mesh, 165 mesh, 250 mesh, etc., which is selected according to the customer's requirements for shielding efficiency and transmittance, which not only meets the requirements for EMC, but also achieves a good visual effect.

③Composite EMC(electromagnetic) shielding glass:

It refers to a special glass made by compounding the above two types of glass. It has both a shielding film layer and a shielding metal mesh. Its shielding efficiency is higher than the above two types. It can work about 50-70 decibels in the 40 frequency band.

2. Structure of EMC Glass: 
The transmittance of electromagnetic shielding glass is mainly determined by the original glass sheet, optical adhesive layer, and the mesh number of electromagnetic shielding screen. Among them, the influence of the original glass and the optical adhesive layer can be ignored. The main factor affecting the transmittance is the mesh number of the electromagnetic shielding screen. The commonly used electromagnetic shielding screen mesh numbers are 100 mesh, 130 mesh, 165 mesh, 250 mesh, etc.
The higher the transmittance of the electromagnetic shielding screen, the worse the shielding efficiency; conversely, the lower the transmittance, the higher the shielding efficiency.

●Translucent material-glass: high temperature resistance 700-1000°, scratch resistance, good flatness, but easy to break and heavy weight.
●Translucent material-optical adhesive: high temperature resistance 150°,
●Translucent material-electromagnetic shielding screen: high temperature resistance, anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation.
●Translucent material-new shielding film: high temperature resistance, high transmittance.
